Hoteldorf Gruner Baum is on the edge of Hohe Tauern National Park, 3.5 km from the world-famous spa town Bad Gastein, in the south of the province of Salzburg and 90 kilometres from Salzburg Airport.  Nearby, an easy hike takes you along the Gastein Höhenweg (high path) leading to the Gadaunern Gorge which provides an impressive view with hidden depths.  Hohe Tauern National Park is the largest protected Alpine area and is home to the stunning Grossglockner Mountain and Austria's Alm region (high pastures).  Popular excursions include the waterfalls at Krimml, the Pasterze Glacier and the Anlauf Valey, Bockstein.

Coming from the north - Highway A10 - direction Villach; exit Bischofshofen continue on road 311, then after 25 km take road B167 following until Lend - go left, direction "Gasteinertal"; arriving in Bad Gastein stay on the main road - do not go to the centre of Bad Gastein - go up the hill right, passing a Shell gas station on your left, followed by the train station on your right.  After passing the SPAR supermarket turn left; after 300 metres a second time left - and follow the street approx. 3.5 km to Grüner Baum.
